Dr. Scherri Culp is a licensed psychotherapist, Executive Clinical Director, scholar-practitioner, and published author with over 17 years of experience in inpatient and outpatient behavioral health settings. She holds a Doctorate in Behavioral Health and possesses advanced clinical expertise in complex trauma, race-based trauma, substance use disorders, family systems, marriage and family therapy, clinical supervision, executive leadership, and professional development.

Dr. Culp is recognized for her deep knowledge of the neurobiological, relational, and systemic dimensions of trauma, with a particular focus on how unresolved and intergenerational trauma impacts marginalized and racially minoritized communities. Her work is grounded in a trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and equity-centered framework that addresses systemic inequities, historical adversity, social determinants of health, and barriers to behavioral health access.

In 2026, Dr. Culp published *Understanding Race-Based Trauma*, a scholarly work inspired by her doctoral dissertation and extensive clinical and advisory experience at the intersection of trauma, behavioral health, race, and community healing. The book explores the psychological, emotional, physiological, and systemic effects of racialized stress and trauma, especially among historically marginalized and underrepresented populations in traditional mental health systems.

As a certified trauma instructor, EMDR-certified clinician, and Auricular Detoxification Specialist, Dr. Culp integrates evidence-based interventions with holistic approaches to healing and recovery. She is also trained in Internal Family Systems and brings specialized insight into attachment injuries, family dynamics, complex trauma, and how trauma influences identity, relationships, coping patterns, and community well-being.

A long-standing member of the American Psychological Association, Dr. Culp serves as a trusted advisor on trauma, behavioral health equity, and the psychological effects of inequity in marginalized communities. Her expertise is highly relevant to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) initiatives, helping organizations and communities understand trauma through a culturally informed and systems-aware lens.

Dr. Culp’s clinical philosophy centers on the belief that healing must be individualized, integrative, and responsive to each person’s unique lived experience. She remains committed to advancing trauma-informed care, promoting psychological safety, building resilience, and expanding equitable access to mental health support for individuals, families, and communities.
